About
I am a parent just like you. In fact, I was an exhausted parent just like you, too. Our daughter Harper was born in 2015, and just like that, we were new parents - responsible for this adorable little baby. We quickly found out just how exhausting a new baby could be. She was an awful sleeper. She would wake up several times a night screaming, unable to put herself back to sleep until one of us tended to her. I remember going to playdates and saying I was up 5 times last night, and people would look at me like I was crazy! To me, being up that many times a night was normal, new parents are supposed to be sleep-deprived zombies, right?.
After 14 months of middle of the night wake-ups, nursing to sleep, co-sleeping and frantically trying the different techniques my friends suggested, we reached our breaking point and decided to hire a sleep consultant. She was a breath of fresh air. I immediately felt like we had a plan to get Harper sleeping through the night. We were given the tools to teach her how to put herself back to sleep. It wasn’t easy by any stretch, but with determination and constant support from our sleep consultant, we found new confidence in our parenting, and for the first time ever we were all sleeping through the night. We did it, we had crossed over to the promise land of well-rested parents- and it was everything we imagined it to be. When our second child Jensen was born, we were able to apply the same techniques we used with Harper and I am happy to say, he was sleeping through the night much sooner than his older sister.
Sleep consulting changed my life. Before meeting with a sleep consultant, I was trudging through each day as an exhausted parent with an overtired baby. Even during the process of learning the tools, I was an anxious parent - hyper-aware of my babies’ feelings. Once we set up a bedtime routine, followed the schedule, and gave Harper the chance to practice these new skills we were able to accomplish our goals. Now, we have a family full of well-rested members.
